Our Italy vacation was everything and more thanks to Selvamica!

For all of our planning and research to create an amazing holiday for the seven of us, our stay in Orvieto at Selvamica was WAY MORE than we expected! I have to say the best word to describe Selvamica is glorious.

As we drove up to the villa we were all “giddy” seeing the house in the distance, and then arriving at the house our smiles said it all. This amazing villa was the most welcoming place to stay with every amenity you could ask for both inside and out. The inside of the villa was so authentic but so very comforting – from the amazing kitchen full of windows and bright sunshine where we enjoyed cooking and savoring breakfast as a group, to the comfortable living space that typically provided our nightly planning for the next day’s adventures, to the gorgeous bedrooms with the most comfortable beds, pillows and linens.

The views from the grounds are breathtaking across the Umbrian countryside over the 360-degree view of the vineyards surrounding the house. Imagine having a different place to enjoy the outdoors with special views from each spot – the evening sunset patio was a special spot to relax and enjoy the sunset over the vineyards enjoying pre dinner drinks, the outdoor dining area to enjoy the incredible summer nights and the amazing food, to the pool patio that provided an endless view of Umbrian mountains and remote hill towns, to the private patio off the master bedroom that allowed the most incredible sunrise views in the morning.

Staying at Selvamica for our 2 week holiday really made us feel that we truly experienced Italy. The central location of Orvieto afforded us quick short trips each day in the morning to nearby towns in Umbria and Tuscany to visit the town, local markets, do some shopping and typically a lovely a bite for lunch. All to return to the house and enjoy the pool and the sunshine every afternoon at Selvamica with afternoon snacks by the pool of local meats, cheese, bread and some ripe tomatoes picked from the Selvamica garden.

Since all 7 of us travelers were foodies, we hired a personal chef, Daniele to come to the villa for a day to teach us authentic Italian cooking and to prepare us the most amazing 4 course meal. Daniele went above and beyond for us, not only with the teaching and dinner, but also taking time to show us the local region and his favorite butcher/deli and fresh food market in the area.

A special thanks to the amazing owners, Sandro and Karen and the local house manager Lamberto who ensured that we had an amazing array of foods for our arrival at the house, a full list of local restaurants with their favorite spots identified and special places to make sure we visited to round out our amazing holiday.

Selvamica made for a truly glorious holiday and will forever be one of our most memorable vacations (until our return someday to Selvamica)!!

What a special place! Selvamica is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. It’s the perfect place to sit back and soak up the beautiful countryside. The sunsets are simply amazing! There are so many fantastic restaurants nearby with delicious food -you just can’t go wrong. The nearby town of Orvieto is wonderful and there are many other sites nearby for day trips. I didn’t want to leave!

After visiting Selvamica, I can say with confidence that paradise on Earth exists. The intense pleasure derived from gazing at the sunset over the rolling hills and enjoying a real Italian meal by the poolside is immeasurable. Selvamica is a haven for those looking to escape the toils of daily life and bask in all of the wonder that Italy has to offer

Our visit to Italy and our stay at Selvamica in June was the most memorable vacation our family has ever had. The villa itself is gorgeous. It is very spacious and immaculately clean. The bedrooms are air conditioned. The hillside surrounding the villa is really breathtakingly beautiful, and there are gorgeous flowers everywhere. Our weather was perfect so we enjoyed the pool daily. The vegetable garden provided us with wonderful salads, to go with our dinners. The caretaker was there daily and also provided us with little treats occasionally. The owner was so helpful with suggestions of places to go and things to do. He suggested wonderful dining places and even the best gelato in Orvieto. I can’t say enough about this amazing villa. Our family of 11 looks forward to returning one day.

This is a lovely farm house, peacefully situated between two vineyards, with wonderful views and both sunrises and sunsets from its elevation. The description of the house itself is accurately described on its site and we found it in immaculate condition. One of the owners was nearby to introduce us to the property and make us feel at home throughout our stay. The owners also were extremely generous, providing a food care package on arrival that we could almost have survived on for the week, and treating us to a family-style dinner at a nearby restaurant. All in all they went out of their way to make sure we had a perfect vacation. We would love to go back and certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet base within train commuting distance of Rome and Florence, and driving distance of all of Umbria and Tuscany.

This villa is terrific. The house was very much as it appears in the listing…spacious and well furnished in a rustic style with wonderful views, a very comfortable pool area and a big, well appointed kitchen for cooking and eating family meals. We had a party of eleven, spanning three generations, so we used both the main house and the apartment. It was a very warm summer week and, happily, the bedrooms in the main house were air conditioned. The apartment did not have air conditioning but had large ceiling fans and great cross ventilation. The village of Orvieto is just 15 minutes away and several other charming villages and wineries are within easy driving distance. The local contacts were very helpful and overall we would highly recommend.

We have all found our stay here to be extraordinary. The villa is spectacular, and we plan to return with other family and friends. We did go to Civita today. What a glorious experience. I’m so glad you made a point of urging us to visit there. We also were in Assisi, and of course we spent a couple of days in Orvieto, then Todi, as well. So, you see, we have more ground to cover, so we must return.

In September of 2015, five girlfriends and I made our way over to the beautiful rolling green hills of Umbria. We stayed at Selvamica, a very exquisite villa. The villa is situated perfectly between Rome and Florence, which was an easy train commute, and an easy 10-15 minutes, by car to Orvieto. The villa is very comfortable and spacious with a nice Tuscan motif, and with the separate two-bedroom apartment, it was perfect for extra privacy and space. With three separate terraces, you get spectacular views. Each morning I would start my day sitting outside drinking my cappuccino and enjoying the splendid views. We hired a private chef recommended by the owners, which made our stay even more special. The chef was spectacular, and he made sure every detail of our meals was prepared to perfection. We took turns eating our dinners in the spacious dining room with window views of trees and rolling hills, or outside on the terrace by the fireplace. We swam every morning or lounged around by the pool and read. We even sometimes swam at night just before bed. We made sure to visit the spectacular wineries in Orvieto, and they are certainly worth it! Overall, Selvamica is a true gem, and I highly recommend it to everyone. Whether you go with children or adults only, your stay here will truly be memorable and you will never want to leave!
